I have a 2001 Infinity 2001 I35. Recently only on very hot days, the transmission would suddenly gear down from 4th to third or second and not shift upward but just rev in the lower gear. If i stop the car and let it sit for a while the problem goes away. It sometimes comes back especially if i'm in traffic. This only happens on very hot days. My mechanic says he believes its a sensor problem where because of the heat, the car is going into safe mode. Help!

Re: Transmission Headache
- Std A/T oil is warranted for 20-30kmiles. When was last swap?
- What does self diagnostics tell? - rev sensor bad, connectors, low charge voltage (check) - get some A/T ideas from http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/24 |

My 02 I35 is doing the same thing. Did you ever fix your problem?

Re: Transmission Headache
don't know if this applies but...does it set the dtc light when the problem occurs? the vehicle speed sensor (which I believe is hall effect type of sensor) may be cutting out when hot. there are air ducts under some years of maximas and altimas that direct airflow to this sensor; if present on infinity, are they intact? Believe the Nissan dealer may have a reprogram that addresses this; system ignores intermitant missing vss data.
