I've played with the idea when I had my ST185 Alltrac and ST184 GT-S. I've contacted Toysport and the conversion would cost me roughly under $2k with the new turbocharged/intercooled engine. Since the GT-S already had the tranny to adapt to the 3SG clock...I the only problem I woud run into would be intercooler piping. Basically...to convert over to a 3SGTE, you need a FWD tranny, and everything that that makes the 3SGTE run, ECU, drive axles. One thing you might have to change is the alternator support if the 3SGTE comes from an MR2. I've heard of swaps being done..none in Hawaii yet. But I'm sure its been done.

swaps have been done plenty of times. i think for the easiest swaps, go with the same alltrac of the same year. (ex: 87 GT <- 88-89 3SGTE, 92 GT <- 90-93 3SGTE, 96 GT <- 94+ 3SGTE) the hardest part is wiring, otherwise its basically drop-in if you get one off an alltrac. its not *THAT* expensive to do... toysport's prices are just usually higher.
![]() otherwise, if you dont want to swap. sell your car and get an alltrac. (but dont use it to drag race only please)

My son and I are currenlty doing a 3S-GTE conversion and would like some help/info especially wiring and ECU conversions, not to mention any other surprises you think we might encounter? We are planning to use the standard 5spd from the 3S-GE car? Will the starter fit. Any thing else????

Re: 3sgte conversion
Help please i have a 1992 st182 celica that had a 3SGE engine in standard and i have decided to rip it out and install a 3SGTE engine in with engine wiring harness and ecu, now the engine starts and runs for about 5 seconds then cuts out, the engine check light states that it is not getting the info for the air flow meter and air intake temp sensor, so i have swopped both ecu and afm but still get the same results, yet if i unplug the afm the engine will run and semi tick over but over fuels and will not rev up properly,
I wondered if it was something to do with maybe the fuel pump side of it it soi wondered if there is some wires i need to change roundas i only have the engine to ecu loom and running on the st182 standard fueling loom So please help with as many diagrams/instructions as possible please as i am tempted to rip out the engine and forget the idea which i dont want to do
