When is the "real" Lancer VII coming to the states?
I've been hearing that the Lancer EVO VII will arrive like in November of this year, is this true? If not, then when will we get it? I wanna see if I should get a WRX or a Lancer.

Yes, the "real" Evolution coming here is going to be called the Evolution VIII. It is ok looking, I have seen the pics of it being testes. It will be here in January and the first commercial for it is going to be at the superbowl. I can't wait even thought they might be rare and not in production a lot but I would like to get one.

You may want to stick with the wrx. Any time a popular model is introduced, the price stays pretty high for a year or more.

New Lancer
Yeah the new EVO VIII is comming to America and not the EVO VII. The new EVO is really an EVO 7.5 the only diffrence is some minor suspension tuning and a new 6-speed gearbox to rival the new WRX STi that is also comming to the states soon. If i were you iwould stick with the EVO VIII

According to Road and Track it is going to have 275 horsepower.
A Joe P manual boost controller, i.e. $50 will fix any "low boost" problem :flamer: |

today i saw a lancer evo vii sitting in a parking lot, and i was shocked cause i know ther new evo is not out yet. so i went over and checked that out. It looks just like the new lancer evo vii, i mean, EVERYTHING, the hood, wheels, brembo breaks, racing seats, the spoiler, grille, it also has the evolution vii emblem on the trunk. i wish i had my camera with me...
. btw, it's left handed drive, so it's not an import from japan or seomthin'.

The RS and RSII are made in left hand drive. GSR's are not.
EDIT: And EI already has several Evos in the states, but I don't believe they've made it to the buyers yet. The first shipment has taken longer than expected. They don't anticipate the same delay for future buyers. |

GSR has the most gadgets if that's what you mean. RS generally comes without AC or ACD to cut weight and because they're not at all essential. Mitsubishi Japanese website has full spec sheets if you go look.
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/inter/entrance.html EDIT: By the way, don't forget Lancers are not necessarily Evos though all Evos are Lancers. The Mirage would be the Lancer in the US if the name hadn't already been licensed to Dodge. I hate the fact that people cannot separate the Lancer from the Evolution and vice versa. They're completely different cars with completely different purposes and markets. Last edited by HobieKopek; 11-07-2002 at 12:35 PM. |
