let me just put it this way, ive been racing cars for years, i have raced the OZ lancer and the WRX in both road courses and rally courses, ive had my rally liscence for a year now and i can honestly say that for 17K, the lancer is a great rally car, the cars handling is amazing in dirt and so is the WRX's for 25K......honestly, whats better? for sure the REX but the OZ to america is what mitsu has been doing in other countries with the cedia.... THe WRX is what japan tried in 1997 and it worked great for them, so the US did the same...... the STI is a pretty different car the WRX, different differentials and more power are the difference.... Mitsu is a smarter company for making it in yellow because it makes youngens go for a sporty compact and other colors give the older folk a car that is a great economic car. Subaru is losing the older crowd by making it out to be this ultra sports car!

by the way, the OZ shares much more than you think!

also, the lancer is faster than a civic, dont sputter out thing you merely THINK are true, say things you know cause that was lame....

Why is it again that the lancer took the SCCA group 2 overall championship, driver and co driver championship, group 2 manufacturers title, and the 2WD overall championship? Because for some reason, while underpowered, its still great at handling and can hold its own in a class thats got more power.

i would say in reality i would take a wrx over a us spec lancer but if we had the jspec evo here i would take that unless there was a jspec sti wrxthen i would go with that. but since we only have the us spec wrx with 227 hp and the us lancer with 120 ( i think) hp i would go with the WRX now both wrx sti and lan evo would be a little harder but good competition espiceally if you are into the WRC. oh yeah :finger:

in a drag race the civic si is definately quicker than the oz, i dont think youll argue with that. the oz rally has an 8.8 0-60 and 16.6 1/4 mile and the 96 civic ex has 7.9 0-60 and 16.4 1/4. so you can see even the ex is almost a whole second quicker to 60 and still a couple tenths ahead at the 1/4.

Wow,

Why compare a US Lancer to a WRX? They are such different creatures. FWD vs AWD, NA vs Turbo. Come on. The only thing they have in common is rally roots. However Mitsubishi seems to be moving away from turbo models in the US. WTF is up with that?

The Lancer is obviously just another econo box car with a "sport" model (OZ) that only differs in esthetics from the ES. However I like the inside of the OZ, and it's fun to drive for what it is.

I am considering buying an OZ Lancer because they are cheap and fun to drive. That and I need another car so my Supra project can be more of a full time thing. Just lurking through forums for ppls thoughts on the Lancer.

Oh and btw my Supra owns all your asses.

relax people. i bought my lancer as a daily driver. if you want to race get a real car...... something with an 8cyl motor in it.

You want bang for buck get a t-bucket.
at around $8K for a turn key that will roast most any car on the road.... and any import for all of $500 in hop ups

check out www.spiritcars.com for an example.

Lightbulb lancer oz rally US

:bandit:
In all honesty, the oz rally is not a car for someone who wants to spend their days at the drag strip. If money was no object, we would all have our perfect car or cars for whatever situation we prefer. I work for a mitsu dealership and own an 03 oz rally for one reason. Mitsu has built a stop gap car that is filling in the void while all the b.s. is going on to get the evoviii int the country......Jan/feb at the latest. from mitsu.. The oz gives us a chance(WRC fans) to have just a very small taste of what it could be like if we could all afford an evo. With some simple changes in intake and exhaust, the lancer does wake up a little....And if you really have some money to burn you can get over 200 bhp w/the rrm turbo and intercooler...So the car is not a waste, and really should not be compared to cars like the WRX ect..Feeel freee to say whatever you like but realistically the cars(lancers) of any order group are a bang for the buck and you guys should not be paying sticker price for these things!!!!!! Holy christ!!! Please tell your dealer you know better and make him/her give you a decent disc>>>>450-650 @least depending on model.....

could your supra run 11's on street tires? if not, il own it with my stealth. and my evo, when it comes, oh yeah, you better believe it will own your ass hard core. about a month after it breaks in it will most likely be running 11's no nitrous on street tires. sorry, to be an ass, im just buying into the "supra mumbojumbo" that everyone else has. ive never lost to one, and never had one run anywhere near me.

Shark Racing, Kaminari and Erebuni (If you count the OEM OZ skirts as a kit) all have kits and pieces. Rhys Millen Racing has a couple of aftermarket lips that attach to the front bumper and DG Motorsports has a carbon fiber hood out as well. Other companies have vented ones in development. Eh...there's a lotta parts out there for such a new car. And there's also a lot of crap. I'm a lazy bastard and I don't feel like posting all of it, but you can PM me if you can't find the stuff listed.

Brotha man right!!!! it may have less (hp120) then other cars out but it really doesn't matter.Let me see you take your civic off road so what it can do.

But becare what you say about the O-Z now beacause there will come a time when something will come out and make the O-Z kick all the Civic Accords,RSX, and any other cars close to its class......

"The O-Z God is coming ARE YOU READY"
