I sympathize with you. If you do have a lemon, you have recourse, maybe. If you don't, and have all those problems you mentioned, don't expect to get help from BMW. They are very slow to respond to customer complaints, if they respond at all. And in your case they probably want nothing to do with you. I bought a new 2002 325i and have had no results in getting BMW to fix a defective radio under warrantee ( sound keeps breaking up ,and static ) they keep telling me engineering is working on the problem. From what I understand this is a fleet wide problem and they are just dragging their feet in getting a fix. How long BMW has had this problem I don't know but can only assume. I do know it's ongoing and even the 03's have the same problem. I hope this isn't a sign of what's to come? I don't think BMW should be selling cars with known defective equipment. I explained this to the service manger and he laughed. BMW has no class. I just bought my last BMW....good luck.

i myself have a 1996 328is. i have similar problems. the door lock button does not work, "check brake light circuit" message appears at random, my check engine light is also on, thought according to the "Scanner" my O2 sensors are bad, so uhm, i should get them changed. but the car sure does sound nice when i step on it. i had "low RPMs" when i first got my car. i changed the oil and now seems perfect, though i am not sure if the oil change had anything to do with it. i also used a fuel treatment i bought at a local auto parts store, maybe that was it?....

A "lemon" is a bad car, or one that has many problems.
It seems that American BMW dealers could try a little harder. From what you guys are saying BMW is being extremely arrogant and they can't get away with it forever. Just because people are dying to drive BMW's right now, it doesnt mean this will always be the case. Hell, im getting a 330ci sport in the coming months and if its not what im expecting im gonna come down on my dealer with a ton of bricks, really make his life hell... Bad dealers should be reported to industry watchdogs. Only then do they start to listen... thats my advice to you: organisations are in place to help the consumer, i.e. you and me. If your dealer refuses to cooperate let him know you'll be getting in touch with the watchdog. |
