radiator exploded
My 91 Caravan with the 3.3 broke the bottom radiator hose, so I replaced it and the radiator cap (which looked very old). I also replaced the radiator fan since it was bad. Everything seemed to be working good until -BAM- the radiator exploded while idleing. Sounded like a tire blow-out.
I'm replacing it and the radiator cap again. My question- Is there anything else that could cause such extremely high coolant pressure, other than the rad cap? It was a 16# cap. The overflow hose was not kinked.

Re: radiator exploded
A blown head gasket combined with a bad rad cap would do it.

Re: radiator exploded
Rad cap doesn't even have to be bad. The head gasket can do it on its own. Good bet you have exhaust blowing into the coolant. You can buy a test kit to detect it.
