2001 Express Van / no trailor brake lites

I have this 2001 Express Van with factory trailor , 4 pin hook up . I have no trailor brake lites . all lites work on the van , turn signals & running lites work on the trailor , just no B/L . I'm sure I caused this as I had a trailor with 2 wires crossed ( which I have corrected ) . I understand there is a board or module that runs or isulates the brake lites as they are independent from the turn lites on the van . Have check all fuses under the hood and inside kick panel . Any idea where this board is located or any other possible fuses which mite cause this . Thanks
David

What size van?
If it has the trailer wiring package the module is right rear of cab interior.
Check for brake light and turn signals going into it.
Turn signal wires will be yellow and dark green.
For wiring diagram on it you will need a factory repair manual or contact All data and see if thy have it in there repair DIY programs.
Good luck

That is all of the info my Mitchell gives on it.
But I do not show it on or for a 1500 1/2 van.
Just trailer wiring there.
You need to try all data or get a factory repair manual on it for more details.
http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html

If only a 4 pin trailer plug it does not have brake lights separate on a brake light wire.
The turn signal and brake lights will be together.
Which you can just tie into your van rear light.
Does the brake and turn signals work right on the rear of van?
Trace your wires from trailer plug and see if they run into your rear van light wires or go on up front.

Let us know what you find there.

Yes all lites on the van work properly . but the turn -parking lites are one and the brake lites are a separate lite by there self . I will trace this further , as far as I can , and get back a bit later or 2morrow .

Re: 2001 Express Van / no trailor brake lites

You need a special adapter in betweeen the trailer to van connector to get this to work because of the seperate lites on the van, you can get this at most parts stores.

Re: 2001 Express Van / no trailor brake lites

The trailor brake lites have always worked until I hooked up a trailor that had a wire crossed , since then , they no longer work on any of my tailors .This special adapter U talk about (or at least the equivalant )I'm pretty sure was included when the factory package was installed . This is where I think my problem is ,(in this module ) but where is it ? I see that the wiring harness goes down the left side of the roof to the dash but can not find any thing that looks like a board or module under the dash .

Re: 2001 Express Van / no trailor brake lites

Usually it is back by the rear harness under under the chassis.
