2000 Mercury EGR PROBLEM

Hey Guys! Well I was hopeing somone here had some info on EGR valves that instantly explode!!! Yes I said Explode!

I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar with the 2.5l v6 and its my second EGR installed and everytime I change one out they blow up. Im assuming I may have a clogged catalytic possibly rear? I was hoeping someone new something more about what may be causing the EGR valve to fail. I think it may be excessive positive back pressure on the exhaust from the rear exhaust manifold catalytic. Can someone else add there 2cents! Thanks!
