Exclamation I have no idea what's wrong!?!

My 1994 toyota corolla won't start. The lights are working and there is power, the "Dome Light" fuse went out. This is hooked up to; The clock, the kenwood deck, the dome light, the trunk light, and a Rocksford Fosgate 300W amplifier. None of these were working until I put in a new fuse, when the new fuse is in the car won't start, the dash lights blink, and the left head light, and the right brake light blink.

I check all of the easy pull out fuses and none of them are fried, I have no idea how to fix this and have never heard of anything like it happening. What needs to be replaced so my car will work again?

So the car starts if you take out the fuse?

Sounds like something is back feeding power through a ground or there is a bad ground.

Have you tried disconnecting the amp and/or the radio?

No the car does not start at all and no i've not tried disconnecting d radioand amp. That's not for me I had all that installed at a professional audio specialist.

When i put in the dome light fuse unlike all of the other fuses sparks. I figure there is some sort of short but i don't know where or how to find it.

I also checked all of the other fuses on the drivers seat and under the hood none of them are burnt.

I really need help please. Maybe with this little more insight you should know what's wrong

Can you hear the starter turning the engine over?

Have you tried jump starting the vehicle?

Have you tested the battery?

If you can't hear the starter turning the engine over have you checked for power on the small wire at the starter while the key is in the crank position?

Do all the dash lights come on like normal when you try to start it?

No to the starter, I was going to try to jump start but didn't find it necessary because the car is not "dead". The lights come on bright and clear as far as Battery light and things like that, they are at full power of light, not dimmed or have any problems.

Describe this wire I don't know what that is or where to find it.

There are two wires that go to the starter. One big one that should have power to it all the time and a small one that should only have power to it when the key is in the crank position.

Try to jump start it anyway.
A battery may have enough juice to power everything else except for the starter. Trying to start an engine creates the biggest current draw on a battery.
If it still won't start with a jump, then you know it's not the battery.

As the saying goes.......never assume.

Re: I have no idea what's wrong!?!

allways check the battery first for a no crank. a battery shorted internally will not even jumpstart as it will suck all the power from the boost car. It may power low load devices but not a 100+ amp starter draw. This caught me once and I replaced a starter by mistake.

Is the car a std transmission? May have a clutch safety switch that has failed.
