$3,500-$4,000 to spend on engine, need input.

aight, so, I have $5,000 right now. I was just gonna go with a b18 and turbo to make easy HP. Now, I'm thinking about doing a d16z6 or d16y8. I really wanna do a z6/y8 swap, but if I do it I want to stay naturally aspirated. I figure that the swap shouldn't cost more than $1000 maximum. So I'll have around $4000 to spend on performance. So my question is, what should I do to the engine with $4,000?

I know I could do a b-series swap, but that's no fun. I like the challenge of using the almighty D-series and staying all motor.

Hey Marc if you want to stay NA on the D16z6 or y8 I would have the block sleeved and bore it out to allow for a larger piston and more displacement. Then run some nice high comp pistons and stronger rods. Have some nice headwork done, retainers, valve springs, and a wild cam. That should get you started. I would talk to some shops to see how much all of the above work would cost so you can get a good idea if it is in your budget. But with that amount of money you should be able to build a nice d series screamer. Good Luck
