99 Park Ave Ultra left turn signal replaced
Our turn signals quit working...sometimes would turn on, sometimes would play their own "tune", sometimes wouldn't shut off. The dealership told us we probably needed a new switch so we ordered a part for over $450 and replaced the combination switch. The right turn signal works. The left turn signal light does not work but it makes the sound. The flashers on the left side do not work.
HELP!!!?? |

Re: 99 Park Ave Ultra left turn signal replaced
The right & left signal use the same flasher unit, therefore, if one side is working you can eliminate the flasher as being the culprit. Did the dealer check the left signal sockets & wiring (front & rear)? If not, that is where you should start. It is unfortunate you spent $450.00 on nothing but a dealer guesstimate!

Re: 99 Park Ave Ultra left turn signal replaced
Very unfortunate. I checked the wiring last Fall but I will check it again! If any other possible solutions come to mind let me know!
thanks! |

Re: 99 Park Ave Ultra left turn signal replaced
I've had the same problem in the past with mine. The left turn signal would go much slower than the right...sometimes. I've also had the left signal get stuck on...going around the world to the left, don't you know
. At any rate, a new signal switch (turn signal stalk) fixed the problem with mine. I had to pay almost $600 for mine (including labor). I've had my Park Avenue for 5 years and this is the 2nd turn signal stalk I've had to have replaced. The first one broke and wouldn't self-cancel...but it was replaced under warranty, so my cost was $100 on that one. Hopefully, there won't be any more problems. By the way, HotZ is right in that the flasher is one unit, so if it works for one side and/or works for the flashers, then it's good. I can tell you it won't be the bulbs. The flasher is electronic, which will "hyperflash" (flash rapidly) if a bulb burns out (been there...done that, too). I would take the car back to the dealer and advise them that the $450 work they performed did not achieve the results promised. I'm sure they will be willing to try to rectify the situation for you...and hopefully, it was a minor detail they overlooked that won't cost you anything. Good luck.
