2005 impala not starting
I have a 05 Impala, 3.4 L. On occasion it just won't crank. I thought my battery was bad, replaced that. No problem for about a week. It happened this past weekend again. When the key is turned to start, everything goes out, no power anywhere. Boasting doesn't work. Its all the info I have at the moment. Can somebody help me to look for the problem?? Thank you for your time.

Re: 2005 impala not starting
Sounds like a bad battery ground connection.

I checked the ground connection, it seems ok. Do you have any other suggestions please? Thanks for your time

Re: 2005 impala not starting
If you have no lites then you have a bad main connection somewhere from the battery to the power dist. center, has to be.

Re: 2005 impala not starting
Thanks for your time, I'll check that out. Haven't had any problem since Saturday, thank god. I did notice that there was some corrosion on a terminal near the fuse panel under the hood. Is this the area you are talking about?? Thanks again.

Re: 2005 impala not starting
One possibility, but any bad connection on the ground side from the battery or the same holds for the main input cable also.

I have a question please. I am still having the problem, after cleaning everything up, and replacing the corroded connector on the battery side. The ground leads to the chassis and the engine look good. I have been having this problem while the car is parked on the level. When parking on a grade, I haven't had it that I have noticed anyway. Would the oil level switch cause this problem? While trying to get the car going today, I pulled the dipstick, and saw she was just below add. I filled her with oil, and got in the car and away she went. Does this switch shut off the fuel as well as not letting her start? I crossed her out on the starter and she cranked over but wouldn't start, not until I added oil, then she started with the key anyway. It remains to be seen if this is the problem.....till the next time....i hope not!!!!! Thank you for your time. |

QUESTION......
Do you see the security light on? Does the dash lights come on and go out when you try to start her up? Cleaning grounds is great but you may have a bad BCM too. Tell us what you find. John
