98 Olds Silhouette Front Suspension Knock
Every time my van makes a right turn over an uneven surface I get this thud/knock from the front end. Anyone experience this issue? I had a garage look at it and they couldn't find anything.
Could it be struts? |

Re: 98 Olds Silhouette Front Suspension Knock
Could be lower control arm bushings, sway bar itself or end link or could be strut bearings.

Mine is doing this too - I looked underneath and found that the sway bar was broken.

Ball Joints? Just replaced both lower control arms, more $, less hassle.
At 240,000 miles the van is nothing but clunks and rattles, but I haven't made a car payment since 2001. Good luck |

Re: 98 Olds Silhouette Front Suspension Knock
Do you notice much difference (less clunks and better ride) after new control arms? That would be riding on new bushings and I wonder how much difference it is.

Re: 98 Olds Silhouette Front Suspension Knock
Sounds like a broken sway bar to me as well. Just replaced the sway bar in my 99 silho.
