You should build one like that you can actually ride!

very nice build - I've been wanting to do this one myself, but could not find the decal sheet. Where did you get the paints from ? Hiroboy -UK ? They are the only ones that listed the decal sheet, but have been out of stock forever. Very nice scale replica - John

Thanks John.
I used the sheet from the Renaissance TK plus some from the Museum Collection sheet. The paints are from Hiroboy, I used the Zero flourescent red, a lighten mix of his TS23 copy using pure white and a 50/50 mix of Zero flourescent green and Kawasaki solid lime green.

Have you tried Media Mix Hobby for the Renaissance sheet, or HLJ for the Museum Collection sheet?

I checked with MediaMix - they are out of stock - who is HLJ ? It is very difficult to find Rennaisance items here in the USA. - John

You can but direct from Renaissance themselves..just email them using [email protected]

Strada Sports also sell Renaissance.. .http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page88.html

HLJ is Hobbylink Japan.....item is here...http://www.hlj.com/product/MCLDC-440
They'll get a sheet for you if your order it.

For more info on the build go to the Romsey Modellers link in my sig, go to 'The Magazine'. There are free downloadable PDF's. If you check the archive from August 2008 on, you'll find a build up feature article each month describing the highs and lows of the build.

Paul.

Hi,

Im sorry but when seeing this pic on google I joined just to find something out. In your first pic the Assen 07 ride looks the real mccoy.....then the others are of models......did you make a rep of the bike or a model? Sorry to seem blonde!!

Just that I bought the Assen 2007 R1 08 model as a one off make from Yamaha directly and paid a fortune and your first pic is exactly the same as mine down to the all the special equipment and everything. Ill be gutted if I paid all that money and I couldve paid you to make one! lol...... You are either very very talented or its a pic of the original surely???? I have a little model of the bike and yours is amazing....congrats!

Hi - it's a 1/12th scale model, made from a converted kit, not a real bike, honest.

Its fantastic.....well done. If you ever think about selling it or wish to make another let me know, it would take pride of place next to our real one.

Well I'm glad you like it. I'm not thinking of selling it just now, the model took 9 months to complete, and over £200 in raw materials etc..!! The model is unique in that the paint scheme was done using paint rather than decals hence the accuracy of the finished look.
With the time invested in it, I doubt I'd sell it for less than £1000...

I'd be interested in seeing some pics of your R1. Will it be at Silverstone for MotoGP??
