Question Dirty Aveo motor

05 Aveo. The motor is dirty especially around the throttle body. Can I take it to the car wash and spray it down? Will it hurt to get it wet? Cleaning suggestions?

Re: Dirty Aveo motor

A clean engine is a happy engine, buy some engine degreaser at local parts store and follow the directions on the package. Spray the contents on various dirty areas and let stand for a few minutes. With LOW pressure water...such as a garden hose, rinse off the grease. I would not reccomend high pressure which risks entering wiring connectors.

Re: Dirty Aveo motor

I took mine to the local full service car wash. They did their engine clean treatment for only 20 bucks. The engine looks great, and they cleaned the whole engine bay, shined it up good.

I would recommend trying that rather than doing it yourself, only cause it is easy, and if something gets messed up electronically you have someone to point to.
