Re: Amuse 350z Super Leggera Conversion
Time to bring this one back up. I've been wanting to get an update posted before I head off on vacation, so that you guys can have something new to look at. I've been putting in some good hours lately and this morning I had the house to myself, so I ran upstairs to the workbench, turned on the iPod and finished this up.
On a side-note, my sudden inspiration to get working again came when I picked up this month's Modified Magazine. ![]() ![]() But now, on to the model. First up I had to change the recess for the front emblem slightly. The standard Z had a Nissan badge, but the Amuse version has a round 'Z' instead. The sides were filled in with Tamiya putty and sanded back. ![]() I moved onto the start of the widebody next. I wanted an easy way to add width, so I glued some 1 x 1 mm styrene strips to the arches and smoothed them into the existing bodywork with some putty, using masking tape to protect any important edges from the sandpaper. (You can still see some pencil marks around the low spots reminding me to 'fill here' ) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm quite pleased with the result. I was able to smooth everything together pretty well. Some primer will be needed to check everything, but so far it looks good. ![]() The passenger side needs a tiny bit of putty to fill one small dip and then the vents need to be cut in the front bumper (See below). Also, now that I look, the character line on the front bumper needs to be curved up a bit more at the edges, but all of those will have to wait until I return.

Re: Amuse 350z Super Leggera Conversion
I like what you are doing with this build. From the pictures it also looks like the front bumper is longer " distance from hood latch to the front" than the stock Z bumper.
Thanks for showing the steps! Mark |

Thanks for pointing that out! I just ran up to the workbench to compare the model's measurements with those from some reference shots, and from what I can tell the nose is the same length. But to anyone else reading, do feel free to mention anything you think I may have overlooked-it took me over a year to notice that I also had to extend the rear diffuser, so who knows what else I missed. ![]() Here's a snapshot of the model next to the real thing. The angles aren't perfect (Nor is the lighting, so they don't look even), but it'll hopefully give a decent comparison. ![]()
