Question 2001 Air compressor and rear window motors don't work

I was hoping someone would know how to diagnose if I have a bad compressor, relay or what with the air suspension on my van. Fuse box checks out ok. The little solenoid in the rear for the accessory air clicks on and off with the switch. Is there an independant shut off for the compressor?

Also, coincidentally the rear windows are power and don't seem to work either. Don't know if this is related to the compressor not EVER running but was hoping someone would have a clue.

Bought the van used and didn't notice at the time if either of these functioned. : (

Also, how critical is the air suspension? Other than a bumpy ride are there safety concerns?

Thanks!

Re: 2001 Air compressor and rear window motors don't work

Sounds like maybe a bad shared ground.
You would need to check both window motors and at the compressor for power and ground. If both good, the units will be bad. More likely, you will find something missing, like no power to one. The important thing is finding out what these units share that would make them all stop working. I have never seen the rear window motors ever go bad.
Air suspension is basically air shocks used for load leveling. Normal suspension will still work fine.

Well, for the compresor, go to to a pro, the rear power windows, I can tell you that, my rear left power window started to go bad 6 month ago, and that my rh rear window went bad yesterday, only fix is to buy new.
this car has allot of bad electrical probs, but I like it anyway.
Cheers

Larry,

You MAY be able to get replacement rear power motors on eBay at a VERY reasonable cost (that's what I did - about $30 for both sides). The motors I got were used, but they seem to work fine. You can read the full story at the link below.

Installing Power Rear-Quarter Vent Window Motors

Take Care,

Re: 2001 Air compressor and rear window motors don't work

I see this is an ancient thread but I figured Id resurrect it.

I just encountered the same problem. I noticed that at the same time my auto leveling quit working so did my rear power windows.

Has anyone else had this problem, fuses are all good. The air pump turns on with the button in the back hatch but doesn't raise the vehicle, its like there is a diverter valve not working somewhere. The pump wont come on by itself to level the vehicle. Also the rear power windows quit functioning.

Any suggestions?

Have you checked the pass thru connector in the floor board? Does your carpet get wet? The connectors could have gotten corroded, also the tail lights might act up also if this is the case.

Re: 2001 Air compressor and rear window motors don't work

Yes actually the rear floor has been wet several times in the past, we used to have to get water jug refills and occasionally one would fall over and dump out all over the place.

Do I just need to remove the storage compartment and pull the carpet back to find it?

Thanks

Would start tracing the wire back, some have issues with the power sliding door, the rear tail lights, etc on the back end due to bad/corroded connections. Usually the problem exists because of a plugged up AC drain leaking water into the passenger compartment. Good luck.

I'll check it out over the weekend before other problems arise. By the way are you on the S10 forum?
