Re: WIP: 1/43 22B and 94 Monte Carlo
Wow its taking me forever to make any updates but I did manage to get a little bit done...
Pinned the doors... couldn't think of a good way to hinge them. I also opened the hood... ![]() Started piecing together the interior as well.... ![]() Still looking for more reference pics, unless I find more of the rear section in the interior I might just have to make it up. Same thing for the engine bay it might end up looking more like a domestic wrx. Last edited by jla; 05-04-2010 at 10:11 PM. |

Re: WIP: 1/43 22B and 94 Monte Carlo
Were these cars ever completed? They were looking really good, and mid-late 1990's Subaru rally cars are always great subjects.

No, not complete, and no updates worth looking at yet! I finally managed to locate some decent reference books for the build so I'll probably start up work on these 2 kits soon. Thanks for the interest!

Re: WIP: 1/43 22B and 94 Monte Carlo
Wow nearly 3 years since I started this thread!
Tiny updates... ![]() ![]() Everything is pretty rough right now. So far I made strut tops, brake and clutch cylinders, intercooler, radiator overflow tank, and washer tank. I think the only major engine bay components I need to scratch now are the wiper motor, air box, turbo and piping for the radiator. Base motor was a copy from the Provence super kit of the 97 Impreza. I need to trim the width a bit and I will probably change the intake manifold to match the earlier car a bit better. |

![]() Still a lot of work to do... ![]() Hopefully it will look a lot closer to this after some more tweaking and a bunch of wires. That air filter is driving me nuts though, I can't think of a good way to replicate that. |

This is a great model car work. My advise seeing what you will have to do in order to replicate that picture of the real car engin bay components, is to start to susbstitute and scratchbuild parts. In that way, at least to me, you just don't advance more, if not, will get a more real engine bay at the end.
