Alero Window Regulator

I own a 2004 Alero, 2 door, experiencing repeaed failurs of the window regulators. I have at minimum, replaced the regulator on each window 3 times. The normal problem is the white plastic bracket that is connected to the regulator cables, (I am not talking about the plastic sash that is glued to the glass.). This white plastic piece that is connected to the regular cable is not robust at all, actually delicate. (I'd like to have a few words with that designer). I am tired of replacing regulators. Can Anyone guide me to where I can purchse the bracket alone? (I repeat, I am not talking about the light brown plastic sash that is glue to the glass window.) I searched the ear;ier threads, but found nothing addressing this item.
Thanks.

Re: Alero Window Regulaor

Don't believe you can get the bracket only from anywhere...I looked too. When I replaced mine, I researched the OE replacment regulators from the various parts stores (napa, advanced, etc.), but the best I found was from O'reilly Auto Parts (oreillyauto.com). Their Dorman brand regulator came with a limited lifetime warranty and I havn't had a problem with it since putting it in about a year and a half ago.

My in-laws have a 2002 Alero 2dr that the've replaced the regulators three or four time, but keep using GM parts. I'd recommend the Dorman regulators to anyone and is what I'll use when/if any others need replaced on my 2001 Alero 4dr.

Re: Alero Window Regulaor

How difficult is it to remove door panel, and work on window regulator? I bought my little girl a 2001 Alero. She tells me the driver's side window will not go down. I'm in the US Navy, but will go home 1 April on leave to try and fix it. Any DIY threads on removal / replacement? The regulator, is that the circuitry that operates the motor? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to AF.

The door panel is easy to remove but there are some hidden bolts and retainers. We have many old posts on door panel removal so do a search of this forum.

The regulator is the mechanical part that has the Bowden cables to lower or raise the window. Also, on one end is the drive motor. The drive motor can be replaced separately from the regulator part. Another issue would be a bad power window switch.

Re: Alero Window Regulator

Thanks for your input. I googled the regulator, and I see the mechanism that you are talking about. I'll do a search on the AF for door panel removal. It seems with a little more research, I should be able to fix this. I appreciate your reply.

Thanks.

I have found only 1 place that sells them and I just found it recently......after I just ordered a whole new regulator when all I needed was these clips.
http://stores.ebay.com/CactusAutoParts
They cost a little bit cheaper than what I paid for a whole new regulator, so that is a plus.
Hope this helps.
