2005 GT dash and DIC issues

This just randomly started. Everything on dash will turn off but the speedometer, TCS turns off and the DIC wont display millage and other things.

The car does have an aftermarket alarm and radio.

Any input?

Did you have this issue at any time after the aftermarket alarm and radio were installed or before?

Do the other gauges like the tachometer, fuel gauge and temp gauge run up and down (self-test) when you take ignition to start?

Yes they do go up and back down. I actually found and talked to the previous owner of the car he said it was doing this to him and it also does this thing where the car kind of surges (RPMs) while I'm cruising I don't believe its transmission I think its something with the ETB.

Re: 2005 GT dash and DIC issues

Are you able to get any error or fault messages on the DIC or any indication you are going in to reduced power mode?

The drive by wire electronic throttle body does have issues. Check out some of our old posts on the issue for '04 and up GPs. A TB cleaning may help.

No codes except for the rear oxygen sensor and that's just due to the high flow cat. Next time it goes crazy I will try to get a video of what it does and post it. Also thanks for the tip on the ETB I'm actually going to starting looking around for threads now.

Interesting.

You mentioned a post CAT 02 sensor issue. Is that the reason why your "check engine" MIL light is on? And no other codes? When was the hi-flow CAT converter installed and what brand? No 02 simulator to get rid of the P0420 DTC?

Yeah the CEL is just for the rear o2 and it's a Magnaflow cat going back to Dynamax Super Turbo Mufflers it was installed the third week I had the car so June 2009
And I will be purchasing a ZZP PCM with the code deleted.
