Re: david-b's 95 Eagle Talon ESi-T Motor Build

that sucks man. Its suppose to be 90* here today. My car is not yet running at the moment either so Dave you still have a chance to win! Could you tell anything by the rings? did the pistons looks like they were getting some blow by? The only thing I can think of happening is you dicked around with MS to much before seating the rings and it caused them not to seal all the way

Re: david-b's 95 Eagle Talon ESi-T Motor Build

Haven't even pulled the pistons yet. My bro had stolen my jack/stands from my parents garage so just got them on Saturday and like I said, just haven't had the time with all this other stuff going on.

This time MS is running fine and don't need to configure anything at first startup. Remember I was haivng all those problems with idling, richness, and then the FP was way too high? This time I can start it and should be able to do the breakin right away.

It's about 68* and bright as hell right now but supposed to start raining at 5, but if it's still good, I'll be out there as long as possible.

Re: david-b's 95 Eagle Talon ESi-T Motor Build

Rain held off for the most part today. Started drizzling when I was finishing up and 3 hours later started pouring. But I was able to finish what I wanted to today.

-Dropped cross-member
-Dropped oil pan
-Popped out pistons

Cylinder walls are in perfect shape. You can see where the rings are being grinded down and there's still cross-hatching. Will still hone it again.

Pistons themself are in great shape as well, no burn, scorns or damage. Rods, caps, and bearings all fine too.

Rings... not aligned properly.

I see 3 gaps on just this one side, which would cause the problems. Not good. Not sure why the car would run perfectly for the start, and then once I started boosting it caused problems. Seems it should have had issues the entire time. But at least there's no damage to anything. I'll re-ring, align (probably have someone double check my work ),hone, and reinstall.

Busted out the camera today and took some real pics of the SS (got bored). Can see the polish job a little better. Not perfect, but good enough for me.

Re: david-b's 95 Eagle Talon ESi-T Motor Build

Update for this Sunday
-Re-reringed the pistons
-Honed the cylinders (ps, don't rent anything from AutoZone FYI)
-Pistons back in
-Head/IM bolted down

Did the rings in about an hour. Turned out perfect and the rings are in the right position this time

How the day ended. Not too bad.

Doing a lot of wire tucking and hoping to hide ALOT of wires/hoses. If you look at my previous pics, on the 420a, on the IM there's a lot of wires and shit that go between the IM and the head. This is how mine is. Even got the wiring harness for it down below the IM.

And lastly, if you guys have the opportunity to see a soccer game, go for it. So much fun. Chicago Fire home opener was last night and all I remember was drinking and pre-gaming for 3+ hours before hand.

Re: david-b's 95 Eagle Talon ESi-T Motor Build

You have to be an expert at taking the 420A apart by now! That's awesome man!! Definitely get her running again and make a teaser video or something.

Caleb, did you make a going away video of the Spyder before it left (if it's gone already)?

Re: david-b's 95 Eagle Talon ESi-T Motor Build

Last time I took video, I had to tear her down afterwards lol. Was kind of mad because I was supposed to go to the track this weekend. My boy with the IS300 ran 15.7, 15.8, 15.9. Don't know anything else about those times as I haven't seen the slips. But I was supposed to be there killing him haha

I'll be doing a much longer break-in process this time around. I'm pretty sure that with the rings being good now that it'll work fine, but I don't want to have ANY problems again. Just don't want want to do this again. My buddy is coming by sometime this week to help with the timing and will be good to go by this weekend.

Ned, I think me and Jason can tear these things apart and put them back together again in no time. We should have a contest lol. Still somethings I'm still unsure of from time to time, so I'll text him. Jay's my hero sometimes haha ("Hey pretty lady!").

Ned: The guy was a dead beat. So I still have the car, and will probably relist it tomorrow or the next day (had to open up a Non Payment Case).
