been having serious problems with my 93 Jimmy 4.3 CPI

code 15 is thrown coolant temp censor, just replaced censor code still there after reset, overheated bulb in dash is good but doesnt turn on while starter turns, what could be the problem. btw temp guage works fine, and there is only 1 wire going to the censor and its green, wiring diagram in Haynes book said 2 wires are needed and 1 is yellow and other (ground) black. completely stumped on this 1 need help.

Also it got warmed up the past couple times and huge surge of power lasting several seconds to a full minute wanted to jump through my garage on its own.

Any ideas?

To start with you are working on the wrong sensor for code 15.
Code 15 is for a problem on 2 wire sensor to pcm.
Not tempt gauge.
The dash gauge has a one wire sensor?
Does you dash have gauge or hot light or both?

Explain the power surge?
Like engine speeding up on it own or fast idle?
Why are you running it in gear when testing or sitting in garage?

Re: been having serious problems with my 93 Jimmy 4.3 CPI

coolant temp censor is the 1 on passenger side between cylinder 2 and 4, if that is incorrect pls tell me where coolant temp censor is diagram in Haynes has no other coolant temp censor listed, dash has guage and hot light guage works finally and light wont turn on while turning the key at start up when starter turns like Haynes says it should (light is not blown)
The surge has happened several times while at idle and in gear slowing down to red lights i had to drop into Neutral to keep from running into ppl.

There is two coolant temt sensors.
The one in head is for dash light or dash gauge.

The two wire tempt sensor to pcm or code 15 is usually on upper front of engine.

Coolant sensor may be part of problem.
When you get it fixed clear codes and see how it does.

Mr haynes and AZare a little slow on figuruing out there is 2 sensors.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Why do you want do all of that racing stuff?
Headers are a big pain on a street car and a lot of times you lose power and performance and gas mileage with that stuff.
Unless you want to go a off the road racing machine you are better off to leave it as is and fix the tempt sensor.

All of that stuff makes it not legal for on highway use.
But
If you are going to set it up for off road racing and high performance stuff and the engine is set up right than headers may help.

On the 02 sensor a good mufler shop can install a fitting for it.
f you go forced injection you will not need the 02 sensor or chip stuff.
Good Luck
