Heads Up Display very Dim

So I noticed the other day that my HUD is not bright as it used to be. I thought the dimmer switch was turned down so I adjusted it all the way up and the HUD was still dim. The HUD is the same intensity with the slider halfway up to max. What I noticed is that sometimes while driving the HUD will get brighter and dim on its own. I actually drove home from work at midnight last night and don't even remember seeing the HID at all (but maybe I did).

Dimmer switch issue?

Not sure, but the same thing happens to me occasionally.

Re: Heads Up Display very Dim

It sounds like you might have some cold solder joints on the HUD module?

Sweet, I'll give it a shot. Last night coming home in the dark it was really dim.

Don't feel bad Tim. For a while I couldn't see the HUD in my GXP during the daytime. But that was because my sunglasses were polarized. Problem resolved. Brought new sunglasses.

Now get to work on it and let us know how it turns out.

I wish I had a GXP to work on.

I was also thinking about buying a pair of oakley sunglasses. Problem is they are also polarized, so it would defeat a purpose of fixing the HUD.

I will hopefully have a chance to tear into it friday. I have to get the GMPP trailing arms on, probably swap out the trans mout with a solid rubber one, and then the truck needs a new reciever hitch so I can get the boat in the water, and I was hoping to get keyless entry and remote start installed in the pickup.... all I have is thursday night, friday, and saturday night.
