Brake Problem
My Mother owns a 2004 Aveo Sedan with only 5,700 miles on it. She had squeeking brake problems when she first purchased it, new in 2004. She has had an acceleration problem, which her dealership repair shop said was dirt or carbon buildup. Today, her brakes failed while entering a parking lot. The pedal had absolutely no pressure. The only thing that stopped her car was a pole in the parking lot and unfortunately another car that was parked in the lot. If the pole was not there, she would have gone through the building. This was not a senior moment, as some of you may be thinking. The Police Officer that responded tested the brakes and there was no pressure. Her fluids are fine. Has anyone else had a brake or acceleration problem with their Aveo?
I await responses. |

Re: Brake Problem
A bad master cylinder can cause a loss of breakes like this. It happened a couple of times in my '88 Bonneville about 10 years ago,
With absolutely no warning at all the brake pedal sunk right to the floor, with no braking effect at all. A couple of quick pumps and it would be good.... for about a year, then it happened again. Imo your mothers car needs a new master cylinder. And you must have your mother practise emergency stops using the parking brake alone. The parking brake works independently from the normal brakes. It is intended not only for parking but also for emergency braking if the regular brakes are lost. |

Re: Brake Problem
Thank you for you're response. The unfortunate result of this incident is, if the car can be repaired, my Mom is afraid to drive it. If it is a total loss, she has vowed to never buy a Chevy product again.
