Re: GTR's converted to road-use

Yes Sami & co., it's almost untouched in that it is still in race specs and if I remember correctly McLaren sold it "ready to be raced" to the current owner, so I'd bet it's not street legal anywhere else. Just compare the engine bay to the other converted GTRs. I've seen the videos it driving on the public roads in Bahrain but if I remember correctly, the video did not show if it has any plates, but maybe it's so well known car there that it doesn't need them either.

Re: GTR's converted to road-use

Seems odd to get a GTR, make it 'look like an LM' but not put plates on it

I think Erik has it right though; when your Dad makes the rules.....

This case is quite incredible, I have to say.
In Finland I think you will end up behind bars, if you even try to ask registering GTR McLaren under Finish registery....

I think one of the bigest reasons to repaint GTR an Orange is the publicity.
If you really want people seen you, keep it the racing livery. If you do not want people seen you every where you go, paint it Orange or Black or something.
Of course the efect of LM is strong, and the history of McLaren speaks of an Orange color....

But still...If I had GTR McLaren; it would be racing livery; Le Mans or BPR, defenitely.

Re: GTR's converted to road-use

It's cool - I was just going to move them over to the Euro fleet thread instead, but they can stay here. It's fine.

Definitely appreciate you digging them out to share.

BTW: Maybe you would prefer this version of your picture for your avatar?

True. You didn't see it in the Fina livery though, it was incredible. Photos did not do it justice. I'm just not a fan of papaya GTR's

Re: GTR's converted to road-use

it would be crimial to repaint 06R, as for being road legal, I thought most of us knew that it was also used as a road car usually driven to and from events.

Re: GTR's converted to road-use

Chris and I are discussing a repaint of #16R - one of the currently Orange GTRs. I don't think either of us would ever advocate a respray on #06R.

Greg's comment is about the apparent chance that was offered for individuals to take #06R for a drive at this recent Brands Hatch track event:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWdzJl0j858

Certainly explains why in the video the car is being driven about 7/10ths if there were people behind the wheel who had found themselves lucky to be there.

Greg; Fantastic.

And what comes to #16R, OK. Staying Papa Orange, OK. Well that's better than repaint it. Still hoping someday it could have back it's Le Mans or Silverstone livery from 1996.

Greg; you don't know anything more about #16R than this quoted text?
