My 1994 Honda Accord 5 speed when warm bucks at 2500 rpms in any gear and the engine light comes on. I either shift or reduce my rpms and it stops bucking. I've replaced the fuel filter, vtec solenod and the throttle plate positin air sensor. Any suggestions?
thx. [email protected] |

Re: 1994 Honda Accord Bucking at 2500rpms
It sounds like a similar problem I was having with my '96 Accord Ex. I was getting a misfire code and had a EGR improper flow code as well. After a lot of searching I found this article: http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl053c.htm
For your car it may be the same set up. For my car I did not have the brass plugs to worry about. All I had to do was pull some intake parts (3 nuts, 5 bolts) and found all the carbon build up. Took me about 1.5 hours and cost me 1 can of carburator cleaner. If you do need the plugs you can go to your honda dealer and get them for about $0.65 a piece, part number 17199-PT3-AHM. A coat hanger works great for scraping the carbon off and out of the ports. I am not a mechanic or anything and I found this fairly easy. I hope this helps. |

Re: 1994 Honda Accord Bucking at 2500rpms
I think you have the same generation as me so you should not have to drill anything. You just have to take out the rail and clean everything out. It was rather easy. Just be prepared to scape out some caked on carbon buildup.
You actually take out the rail, about a 10 inch by 2 inch piece with long grooves running through it. Once you get the part out all you will need is some carburetor cleaner a steel brush (optional) and a wire hanger. I know the wire hanger sounds odd but you will need it to really scape all the build-up. I happened to have one laying around and it made everything a lot easier. If you have an issue with what you are to take out just look at a parts list on one of the Honda parts site and you will see exactly what you are going to be pulling out. Good Luck. |

www.tegger.com has some info on EGR ports cleaning. See if you can find something there.
Good luck, Sam
