98 Firebird 3.8L coolant leak.

Okay guys. I have myself a coolant leak. I'm losing about 1/2 a gallon of coolant every 2 weeks. It seems to be pooling up on top of the engine on the passenger side. Where could it be leaking from that it would get up there? Any help would be great.

Re: 98 Firebird 3.8L coolant leak.

Nevermind. I found it. I filled her to the top and let her idle for about 20 minutes. Started shooting coolant out through a hole in the heater hose like a jet...that's how it got on top of the engine. Next problem...nobody in town has the freaking hose assembly! I just duct taped the crap out of it and I guess I'll have to order the parts.

Thanks for the update, I was thinking it had to be from a hose, odd nobody had a suitable replacement tho?

Re: 98 Firebird 3.8L coolant leak.

In case anyone else has been looking for this hose, apparently it has been on back order for about 2 years. GM just settled with the company which makes the part and they are supposed to start shipping them out at the end of March. So all of you people who (like me) have had to get creative to fix it can finally fix it correctly. Rejoice! *does a little dance*
