Re: The Clinic Model Thread

I was looking through my dismal collection of automotive literature trying to find something to contribute to the forum, and I noticed that in 'The Automobile' was a brief summary of the McLaren F1. The details are nothing knew but thee photos were kind of strange.

The photos appear to show the Clinic Model when it was wearing it's low mirrors, but it was wearing a paint color that seems to be a dark-maroonish red. I thought maybe it was the car as it appeared in orange, and the publisher messed up during the printing, but the only photos i've seen of the car in orange are from when it was fitted with the high mirrors.

I'm almost positive it is the clinic model...
-foglights
-vents behind the headlights
.. but maybe it's a different car, or the photos were photoshopped (can't find a reason why they would do that). Does anybody know what it might be?

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

Okey, so this is the "Clinic Model" which I have to ask at the new Thread. Sorry not to find this Thread before I asked it.

But subject cleared very well now, I expected that it might be something "first show / studio model" thing but I wasn't sure so have to check this.

These Clinic Models, how many they procused these? Here is red ones and silver ones, so how many were made?
Is there any left of these?

Thanks for pics and information!

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

Just one was made, but it ended up getting painted a few different colors through it's useful life. We know of silver, the burgundy, yellow and perhaps blue at one point. Unfortunately, no one has seen the Clinic Model for many years. One would suspect that perhaps McLaren have it stored somewhere, or at least I would hope that they do. Hardly the sort of thing I would scrap.

No harm on the other thread. When things get repeated, I just make sure there is a link to the older postings/thread on the topic and then close them up so we can try to keep similar discussions all in one place.

OK. So they painted it serval different colors. That explains a lot!
I think they have stored it somewhere. It's not McLaren's way to operate lost history things. So let's hope that they have stored it.

Yep...believe or not; I checked allmoust all of the pages of these F1 Threads............opcorn:
But didn't remembered that Clinik Model topik, maybe because didn't knew what it was.

It's been a while, but here is another shot of the Clinic Model -

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

Nice detail for that era - must have had a good camera.

Once again though - who takes just one photo of a McLaren F1?

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

Okay - make that three. The last one being the best so far IMO.

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

I created this from a less-than-ideal source. Thought the finished product was good enough to share.

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

Figured tak43's pics of the car from the Beaulieu Motor Museum from April 1995 deserved to be in this thread as well.

These are the last known photos I'm aware of for the Clinic Model, with speculation it may have been crushed some point afterwards. Bummer...

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

Why would they crush it? Makes more sense to keep it (?)

Re: The Clinic Model Thread

I agree - or donate it somewhere for display.

Keep in mind, it hasn't been seen in ~15 years.
