Window won't go up on my 2000 323i

Hi, I have a 2000 323i and my window stopped going up and it made a loud pop noise. First it would stop halfway, then I had a friend pulling it up by hand as I used the button. It would fall back down about halfway, then we pushed down and pulled up, then it just stayed all the way down and won't go up at all anymore. I can hear a grinding or clicking when I press the button. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also can I fix it myself?

It can be the window regulator or motor. However the window motors arent known for going out

Re: Window won't go up on my 2000 323i

My son recently had the same proplem on his 99 328i driverside reardoor window. His problem is the plastic holder which attaches the cable to the motor gears to the window rack. the plastic broke. He just went online and got a new regulator w/o motor @ $70-$90 depending where you go. I saw one on ebay for about $56 but he didn't trust the vendors on ebay, so spent a little more for a Bavauto unit. He'll be installing it this weekend if weather holds up. Right now he has a block of wood propping up the window from the inside of the door frame. Took about a week for the part to get here, average time, not too bad.
Good luck
