1997 Mercury Villager will not start.
I have some friends that came to visit me in Colorado. Their 1997 Villager ran fine all the way out here from St. Louis. They went out to start the Villager the next day any it would not start up.
I check the plugs and there is spark, I pulled off the gas filter line and cranked the engine for a couple of seconds and it seemed to have good fuel pressure. The motor cranks but will not fire up. The unit is a 1997 Mercury Villager with a 3.0 v6 auto. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Mario... |

If you have spark and fuel then it may be the pcm. Try resetting the pcm and unplug the maf sensor and retry.

Check your fuses or maybe your starter is out. Wait this post is a month old.

How many miles on vehicle??? Have you checked the optical sensor in the distributor??? Remove the rotor and the cap over the optical sensor and look for any brown dust on it. If you have brown dust the bearing is going bad in the distributor (If that is the case, a new distributor will be in order. Check ebay for a new one). Have you used a noid light to check the injectors for power and pulseing. Have you checked and reset the inertia switch located drivers side foot kick panel, by emergency brake pedal. Checked all fuses???? Do you have any codes??? Is check engine light on??? Have you tried the suggestions in post #2?? By the way welcome to AF. Last edited by tempfixit; 03-17-2010 at 02:23 AM. |

This is a an old thread. You should start a new thread.
Try spraying some carb cleaner into your throttle body while someone cranks the engine and see if it fires up. If it does then you have a fuel problem. |

Re: 1997 Mercury Villager will not start.
How many miles on the vehicle rodeick328??? Change the water pump, thermostat, and timing belt tensioner while doing the job.
In case you do not know that this engine is a non-interference engine so don't let people tell you that you have bent valves. Sorry Ralph123, you are right> I thought he meant ether. |
