Shock Suggestions

Hi all,

Looking for some shock suggestions. I was going to just use the OEM Bilstein replacements but my mechanic is trying to sell me on the KYB GR2 shocks. He says they are a higher quality build and valved properly to compensate for worn springs and such. He's an honest guy and what he says may be true but the GR2's may not be the best for the Bravada...He quoted me $200 per axle for parts and labor which I thought was a good deal...I'm just not certain I want the GR2's.

Has anyone used the KYB GR2's on their Bravada? If not, what replacement shocks have you used? Do you like them?

Thanks for the input.

Chris

Re: Shock Suggestions

i am very happy with my Bilstein Comforts. they have a very smoth ride and i got them for about $180 for 4. Shocks are very easy to do by yourself to save money. did yours come with bilsteins originally? my 98 bravada did not.

Yes, my Bravada has Bilstiens on from the factory. They have 94k on them and there is noticible nose dive when stopping, noticeable sway when cornering, and the ride feels like I am in a boat at times. I'm looking for a comfortable ride with a touch more ride stiffness than stock (although, I'm not really sure what the stock ride feels like as I bought the Bravada with 50k on it and it felt like the shocks needed replacement then). I'm not looking to off road or raise the vehicle or anything like that. The Bravada is my daily driver/touring cruiser.

Re: Shock Suggestions

While you're checking thkings out, be sure the tire pressure is normal. Cold winter temperatures dropped the pressure 5 to 7 psi on my vehicles.
