05 Durango gas filling problems

I just bought an 05 durango today. Love it so far. But when i went to fill the gas up the pump shut off and then about a half a second later gas shot out of the filler neck and all down my paint! Not as concerned about the gas as i am it ruining the paint. any quick fixes out there? any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Re: 05 Durango gas filling problems

I had this issue right after I bought my 2005 last year. The Dodge dealers know of this, and it is a recall issue that they will repair for free. It has to do with the gas filler check valve (I'm not sure if that is the exact name of the part, but close) and because it causes a safety issue, they cover the repair.
Just take it to your Dodge dealer and they will know what you are talking about. They may have to order the part, but they will do the repair.
