Hello everyone; my first post. Ok I own a 1975 chev. Nova: 250 eng. 4.1 with a 3 speed manual. My oil pan has been leaking for a while and I have decided to remove oil pan, replace gasket, replace motor mount clean oil pump or else. I would like to know how to remove oil pan. Will removing trany, along with fly wheel, and clutch be a good or easier option. Please advice as to best option. Thanks.

Re: How to remove oil pan?
Consult a factory service manual for the "step by step" instructions. The "list" is rather long...

Re: How to remove oil pan?
Hi, thanks for your responce, however the chilton's repair manual for chevy II nova 62-79 does not address the issue. Take care.

Re: How to remove oil pan?
You'll need to undo the motor mounts and raise the motor a little bit for clearance. That's the biggest thing you need to know. Outside of that, be sure to remove the entire oldgasket, clean completely and make sure the new gasket goes on evenly and doesnot slip or squeeze out during installation of the pan. It's a good idea to use guides when installing thepan to keep both hands free during installation. The guides thread into the holes for the pan bolts and let in hang in place while you install the bolts. Overall it is a straightforward procedure, but takes time. Good luck.
