hello to all!
I would like to get input from anyone whom may know. wife has an 02 dodge neon, 2.0L 4-speed automatic (41TE transmission), 76xxx miles always been taken care of maintenence wise. the tranny pan was dropped and filter replaced by an independent shop back in july of 2009. i wanted to findout what fluid the shop used to be sure they used atf+4, but of course nobody saves receipts so nobody knows...Fluid is red (like it should be), but a bit bubbly (so i would say a bit too much tranny fluid in it before so i drained some of it & now the fluid is at the proper level). problem is this, coming home one day, about 55mph, engine rpm starts fluctuating intermittently, then engine light comes on. the tranny pump, when the engine gets to operating temperature, starts whining like its sucking air, but there is enough fluid in the tranny according to the dipstick (checked with engine running and up to operating temp). The transmission would not shift at all once i parked it. So the next morning i inspect the fluid, and pull the codes. the codes are still there & i have not cleared them. p0700-tranny control system malfunction p0845-tranny fluid pressure sensor/switch b circuit p0841-tranny fluid pressure sensor/switch a circuit range/performance p0846-tranny fluid pressure sensor/switch b circuit range/performance p0732... (gear 2, 3, & 4 incorrect ratio codes) it will shift ok, until the engine gets to operating temperature and the the tranny pump starts to whine as engine rpm increases or decreases. i did a bit of research & with the chrysler drb3 i activated the actuators for the solenoid assembly and they seem to be ok. with this pump whining, this leads me to believe that it is time for a tranny rebuild/replacement. i have followed through 3 different chrysler diagnostic manuals, but none of them have mentioned anything about the tranny pump whining..has anyone ran into this problem or anything similar? any help is greatly appreciated, thank you for your time!! -CR |
