Nah nah nup....you can't get away that easy....
Of course we're watching.....a day is incomplete without an update from you Garey.

I've never seen a Cobra stripped down this far, but I would say you nailed the look.. That looks so unbelievably "scale perfect"...GREAT work.

cheers
Greg

Excellent work, as usual. Your F40 inspired me over the summer to start my current project, and this is continuing that inspiration.

Thanks Mike, I've been watching you build, too! Yours is a lot more ambitious than mine, though, given the scale. I'll finish the F40, but it's shelved for the moment. This one should give me the inspiration to finish the F40, unless I get pulled to a different project, once this one is done, wink, wink. We'll see...

Thanks, it's been a lot of work, but I've enjoyed it. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, for the frame, anyway. Time to start thinking about the suspension and the drivetrain, soon!

Thanks Greg, I hope it's accurate, down to the 64th of an inch anyway. I got my hands on a set of blueprints, which has made it very easy to duplicate everything. Just wait until the frame is completely done and you'll really be able to "see" the Cobra shape. I just have the framework for the birdcage done, so far. Once I get all of the support tubing done, you can really see the body shape...

Thanks,

Garey

You did find me, but I was here all along, Lol! I just took some time away from building. Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it. This build has really been a labor of love and far more challenging than the F40, since I truly started from nothing, but it has been fun as well. I need to build full time... everybody loves the updates and I can't seem to get them up fast enough, Lol! Your build has progressed nicely! I need to get another password from Eric... I'm so lazy! I thought I had mine saved, but, alas, I don't. Maybe I'll post this WIP over there also...

In the beginning it was hard to see what was what not being familiar with this chassis, so it was always interesting to see every update. Now its clear there's a car in there. Amazing project. Doesn't even look like a model anymore, looks like a perfect home for a real engine.

I thought that might be the case for alot of people looking at the build early on, since the frame is kind of symmetrical, front to back. I guess I could have described it a little better, as to what was what. Now that the basic frame is done and I'm building up and out, it will keep looking more and more like a Cobra... of course, once the body goes on, it'll be unmistakable... Thanks for the compliment...

Re: 1/8 Scale Scratchbuilt 427 AC Cobra

Well, the wife had a jewelry party tonight, so I just sequestered myself in the shop and got busy! Got most of the rear birdcage done and started to move forward, around the drivers door and onto the cowl. Not 100% happy with the shape of the upper part of the door frame, where it ties into the cowl, but I'll address it during the next build session. Also got the correct roll bar hoop bent up and the down-tube tied in and if you notice in the rear, right 3/4 view, although the picture is a little blurry, you can see the bolts that hold the down-tube lower bracket to the framework. Just like the real deal, although there are still 3 more bolts to be drilled and tapped... until next time, enjoy...

Thanks for watching...
