how to remove front fenders
I wanted to open the side fenders because i got into an accident and wanted to replace it. I can see three screws on top and i opened them. It seems to be open from top but what and where are the other screws to completely get the fender out?
So far it looks like the fender is connected to front bumper cover, bottom and maybe main frame. I looked online to find a picture for the location of the screws but couldn't find it. anyone have comments please post. ....thanks... |

Re: how to remove front fenders
There are Toyota factory service manuals stickied at the top of this forum's home page. Download the manual for your generation (you don't give the year of the car), and look through the body section. That's usually section BO.

Re: how to remove front fenders
You'll need a 10MM socket with extension to get to the bolts inside the rear portion of the fender at the front door hinge. Rem. those, the three (four?) across the inside top fender well, and one near the front wheel, attached to a strut. Rem. the headlights. There's another behind the headlights.
When you've undone all the bolts, close the door, lest you scratch the finish as you wriggle/wiggle/wobble the old fender off. The attaching-tabs will scratch the car easily. Wear gloves, some of the new fender edges are like razors. Replace with NEW bolts, dipped generously in undercoat. Also smear the undercoat all over the inside well of the new fenders, be generous; the stuff is cheap and well worth the effort in quietness and rust-proofing. Like the previous poster, I highly recommend a Haynes manual for this job. I did the fenders on a '90 and a '94 - easy. Be careful not to shear the bolt-heads off; they'll be rusty and corroded - at least in the northern states. Have 'em painted by a pro. You won't want to have done the work and finish with paint that looks it came from spray-cans!.
