airbag light on cruise control not working? 2005 Taurus SE
Air bag light on and cruise will not work. The cruise light will not come on at all. The horn blows so I am thinking that the clock spring is ok. What do you guys think?

Does the airbag light flash when you first turn the key to run or start the engine? If so, it's flashing out a code. Record the flashes and pauses and post back.

when car is cranked the air bag light comes on for a few seconds like it always has. Then after it goes out, about 30 seconds later it blinks 9 times then a pause then it blinks 1 time then pause then blinks 9 times then pause then 1 time then a pause then 9 times. it does this about 4 cycles and then the light stays on.

Did you maybe miss an initial flash? Some of the pauses should be longer than other pauses, where are the long pauses?
I don't find a lamp fault code (LFC) 91 defined, but LFC 19 would be (DTC) B2293 (LFC) 19 -- Restraint System — Air Bag Status (Driver Front Air Bag Circuit Failure) -Rod |

Yes I must have missed the first flash. The code is 19.

Re: airbag light on cruise control not working? 2005 Taurus SE
I don't have the factory service manual for 2005, but hopefully it's similar enough to the 2002 model year that the below information is accurate.
The only thing in common between the two circuits is the "air bag sliding contact" - aka clockspring, and fuse F2.27 (10A) in the Central Junction Box. The fuse appears to only supply power for the instrumentation indicators which obviously works since yours for the SRS flashes. The horn and cruise on on once connector of the clockspring assembly and the driver's airbag is on the other connector, but it would still seem the next logical step if you're looking to avoid a diagnostic fee and want to perform the work yourself is to change out the clockspring. Since the airbag functions go through the clockspring and there are all sorts of warnings in the service manual related to the airbag and disabling it I'm not comfortable providing information (which could be in error) regarding how to change out the clockspring. There are a few threads on the subject in the Lincoln LS forum though. -Rod |

Took car to dealer. They said the clock spring needs to be replaced. I am bringing the car in Wednesday for the repair.
