Re: Grand Prix no start mystery
Those types of parts come in sealed baggies now at our local Carquest store, I guess they didn't want people doing that buy/try/return thing.
I will try to get those running readings soon. Thanks again for the help guys! |

Re: Grand Prix no start mystery
Inserted new MAF, plugged in and car will now run.
Parking it outside tonight and see if it starts in the morning. Fingers crossed....getting sick of looking at this thing |

Re: Grand Prix no start mystery
good luck! You didn't by chance watch the data stream with it running so you can compare it to when it wasn't did you?

Re: Grand Prix no start mystery
Yes I watched readings like a hawk
Well, I am sorry that there is not a more interesting conclusion to this mystery The car started outside in the cold this morning and isa running like a top! My theory: It was by chance that the MAF got so much worse that weekend of sitting (it was acting up though before that as I suspect it for the reason of the random stal) I tried unplugging the MAF first thing when it wouldn't start outside Plugged it back in and off a couple more times here and there inside as well I did clean the front three plugs of fuel contamination just before my last attempt at unplugging the MAF This is when it started inside yesterday morning I suspect by the time I had pushed the car in to "warm up" the plugs were already too fouled for the car to start anyway, I underestimated this possibility I had cleaned them prior to the first time it started and ran and didn't realize how fast they can go bad. So I guess the moral of the story is always make sure plugs are clean first and a sensor can get worse out of nowhere. So thanks for all the help guys I am delivering the car this morning and I am taking it easy on the kid for the bill!!! |

Re: Grand Prix no start mystery
Great news! They can be hard to diagnose when multiple things are wrong at the same time. So the fuel trims were close to zero after changing the MAF?
