65 Malibu help.

Got lot of questions about a 65 malibu that i got from my dad.

wannalower it down to get that raw look. I'm wanting at least an 18" wheel up front. and a 20" in the rear. I would like for the rear tire to be at least 10" (11"would be great).

1.How do i get this stance? and do i just need to work on the frame suspension parts?
2. Are there any more current interchangable (suspension) parts from newer cars that will bolt yup?
3. Am i better off working with what the car already has?
4. I've heard that you can get a bigger rim by changin the offset?

My ultimate goal would be to get it looking sharp and give it back to my dad. (he gave it to me because he couldn't afford to fix it up. I would let him sell it!!!!) And i'll have plenty of time with the car later. I don't have a ton of money for this. and al the advice i could get would be very helpful.

Why not Just do some nice rims and tires set of mags on it and 14 in. on the front and 15 in on the rear. Put a good eng. and trans inn it and give it back to you dad to drive. I will bet he would like that better then you slaming it and putting the 20 in tire on it.

Re: 65 Malibu help.

Wilguess is right ! These cars don't have a lot of clearance for oversize and/or wide tires . To do as you stated would require lots of body and suspension modifications ! To get a 10" wide wheel under the rear , you would need to put ( at least ) a minitub or maybe more . These cars don't have much clearance .You might find a 17 " wheel and tire combo that would fit the stock body but doubt you could go much beyond that . Just my $0.02 , Good Luck !
