2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
I know what the manual sez but what should I have done at the 120K mark (currently at 119K). I haven't had any problems at all with this car and have pretty much stuck with changing oil every 3K and that's it. I'm thinking of having the dealer give it the once over but I don't want to take it in the shorts for unnecessary maintenance.
On the one hand I'm afraid to do anything since it has run great till now but on the other hand I don't want it going T*TS up since I haven’t done something. Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
Have you done anything besides changing the oil? Timing belt, trans service, coolant service? 4 or 6 cylinder?

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
Coolant and trans fluid changes and flush. Nothing with the belts or trans that I recall. It's a 6 cyl.

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
I'd get the timing belt replaced asap. You're way past due for a tuneup also. You might as well change the valve cover gaskets while you have the intake off.

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
Just curious what's the big deal with the timing belt and should I have the other belts done as well?

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
The timing belt connects your crankshaft to your camshafts. If it breaks your engine will not run and there is a chance it can bend some valves and it might damage your crank sensor. If you haven't replaced your drive belts, you should change them when the timing belt is done since they will be off of the engine anyway.

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
Great, thanks. I'm lined up for all belts, and the dealer suggested a "throttle body , air induction and fuel injection system cleaning ($100)”. Total for all will be about $900. He also said they wouldn’t have to take the intake off so I’m skipping the valve cover gaskets. Bottom line about $900. Most off that’s on the timing belt.
Does that sound reasonable? |

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
It sounds a bit high to me. Did they recommend spark plugs?

Nope. Which part sounds high?

Re: 2003 GTS Spyder Maintenance
They didn't reccoommend spark plugs. The cost for the timing belt was about $600. The other belts about $150. Does that sound high?

The timing belt replacement was about $600. They didn't suggest spark plug replacement> Do you think $600 is high?
