Anyone have more misfires after replacing plugs?

I have a 2001 Montana and have replaced the plugs and wires because the check engine light came on for a misfire in #5 cyliinder and it was about do anyway. Well once i got all the stuff changed out it now misfires even worse and on more than one cylinder.

i read through some posts on here and people have been saying it may be one thing or another but I checked all specs on both the wires and plugs and all are OEM equal. 7mm wires, autolight ap606 plugs @ .060in. just light the Haynes manual and a couple websites have said. Would the engin coil have gone bad? Will it work itself out if I get the check engine light turned off?

Any help would be very appriciated.

I would put the original AC/Delco plugs in there as there are known issues with other brands of plugs in GM vehicles. Although, that may not be your problem. You could be getting a lean miss caused by low fuel pressure or dirty injectors.

Re: Anyone have more misfires after replacing plugs?

Make sure the wires are fully on the plugs.

As long as you have done things correctly the miss should not be worse than before and I doubt the coil(s) have anything to do with the engine missing.

One coil supplies power to 2 (two) plugs not one, so it would have been running worse to start with.

Double check the plug gaps and the plug wire routing to ensure you have the wires in the correct firing order.

If, after that is all correct and you still have a miss (say one cylinder) you MAY have a problem with #5 on it's own.

Due to the fact these 3.4L GM engines are a real pain when it comes to replacing plugs, you MAY have inadvertently cracked or broken one.
