02 Caravan Sport--dashlights & turn signal problems

When I use my turn signal or hazard lights, the lights and guages on my dashboard go out. The signals don't flash on the outside of the van.

Is this a simple fix? Ideas?

I would start by inspecting all the running light/turn sig bulbs and sockets for corrosion. You have a 4th generation van. On 3rd gen vans the combination flasher module controls the flashing of the lights. Might try wiggling it or replacing it. It may be on the fuse relay panel (Junction Block) behind the dash at your left knee.

Has anyone figured out the fix to this? I'm looking at the exact same problem.
Thanks in advance.

Re: 02 Caravan Sport--dashlights & turn signal problems

I have a 2003 Caravan, and they use a body control module to run all the lights on the van. I didn't have backup lights, so after the usual bulb replacement and voltage checks, I had the dealership do a quick check while in for something else. They said the BCM was at fault. Now sit down before you read on. They wanted $400 to replace it, $150 for the part, $250 for labor. Uhh, four bolts hold the thing to the firewall, right behind the brake pedal. I paid the $300 core deposit and did the work myself. if you can connect a VCR, you can connect this thing up.

If you have checked that all your bulbs are good, and there are no bad wires anywhere, I'd suggest having them look at it and get the BCM to install yourself if they say it is bad.

Thanks for the info. I can't believe how much they want for labor!! That's crazy! You can bet I'll be doing it myself.

I know this is an old thread but for future problems like this first thing to check is the battery connector corrosion put more attention to the small size wires at the battery clean them up and check if the problem is gone
