It's awesome, I think it's one of your best yet.

Re: 1/12 `69 Camaro Z/28 - Burgandy, white interior
Absolutely superb! So realistic, especially in the outdoor snow pics. The white interior looks great too.

Re: 1/12 `69 Camaro Z/28 - Burgandy, white interior
So... what's the count? Counting both Corvette and Camaro, how may have you built now? They are all fantastic. Very impressive.
I was sure that in one post you gave us a description of how you get such great paint/finish, but I can't find it...... any chance you could post a link to it? Thanks Murray |

Re: 1/12 `69 Camaro Z/28 - Burgandy, white interior
Thanks so much everyone! I really appreciate all the complements.
The trim around the wheel openings are bare metal foil. Quote:
No instruction sheet needed for me anymore. I am on number 14 right now, and will probably start number 15 soon which will hopefully be featured in a magazine if all works out.For the finish, really I don`t do anything too special. I try to follow how it`s done with real cars for the most part. I do scribe the lines out on the body with the back end of the hobby knife to allow me to sand the body as smooth and flat as possibly without losing the panel lines. This also makes the gaps smaller and deeper, which is more realistic IMO. I sand the body in an X motion on the big flat panels to try to keep it even and not have waves or ridges from my fingers. I use Krylon enamel primer. I usually have best luck with DupliColor and Testors Custom Lacquers for colors. Clear coat is always DupliColor, and I pile it on, atleast 6-7 coats. This allows for as much wet sanding as needed (usually 1500 and 2000). I am now using 3M rubbing compound, followed by Meguires swirl and haze remover. I have found that this combination really works quickly, compared to just using Tamiya or scratch X. I then finish it up with Tamiya compound, which seems to be just a little finer than the swirl and haze remover. Usually it will take me atleast a full day just to wet sand and rub out the body. Hope that helps. |

Re: 1/12 `69 Camaro Z/28 - Burgandy, white interior
I think you should post some pics in a different background and it will pull off as an 1:1. Stunning detail and paint work. Thanks for explaining your paint porcess.
