I'm new to this forum and I'd like to thank those for their input in advance. Weather just became ridiculously cold here and this noise just appeared to me, I don't know if it's coincidence or not.
Noise: Intermittent screech that has no consistent pattern or length to it. Always loud. Sometimes it takes a long time between screeches sometimes it's one after another. Just heard it. Happened during idle. Sounds is coming from the front of the motor. AC not on. It sounds like short bursts from a noisy squealing bad fan belt. I don't know and I hope someone can give me some ideas! I know my truck inside and out, this one is new to me, but then again so is this weather! I just hope it's not a bearing in the motor or something like that. Motor is about the only place I am helpless.

Re: 1994 Chevy K1500 Screech
Could be several things-belt, idler pulley, tensioner pulley or something driven by the belt. Does the noise change when you turn the steering wheel or put a load on the alternator (turn on lights, wiper, radio)? Do you have a correct mixture of antifreeze?
