CCW Wheel Advice

Not sure who is using the CCW's and need some feedback. I called to order a set of 3 piece wheels and got talked into forged wheels. I'm not feeling good about it and wondering if I should change to 3 piece. The sales person even suggested the 3 piece may not clear our GTS brakes. Also the 3 piece has a lot of flex.
I think Brian G is running these.
Any feedback or comments on fit and durability would be appreciated.
There is a cost difference of $ 150 per wheel / $600 per set.
TIA,
Rich

Re: CCW Wheel Advice

I run the 1 piece (actually 2 welded halfs, I think). From memory to be SCCA legal we are limited to 11" rear and 10" fronts, while the 3 piece wheels are 12" wide.

No complaints and we run the Hoosier slicks with about 5 sec (on a 2:00 lap) improvement over the DOT R6s.

Go for it they are light and very strong (and expensive).

Unless you are running a very fast non SCCA GTS car, not sure there is a reason to go to 12" rears......? Brian?

BTW you will need to fit the Nascar style front wheel studs and get open lug nuts. We still use the front wheel spacers.

Re: CCW Wheel Advice

the 3 peice is the way to go in my opinion. they will make any size you want. I just got creamed by some moron and he f'ed up two rims that I only have to buy outer halves instead of entires new rims. that has happened maybe 6 times now. so I have bought 6x150=900 instead of 6xentire new rim. plus I started with 10" front rims and later changed just the out half to make 11" rims so now I have both sizes for very little....

3 peice are more flexible for racing. they are much softer and any contact will bend them where 1 peice may not.

I would def. buy them again.

Re: CCW Wheel Advice

I am fine...they booted the f'er who creamed me. Permenately.

the car has minor frame damage and body work. Crushed the entire front passenger suspension and frame pickups. We will be fixed in no time. Thats racing. I will post race to yuotube tonight or this week...

thanks for asking its more than the f'er who hit me did.

Glad to hear you are ok as well.

That's probably $5K worth of "that's racing". At least the perpetrator was banned but, for many, that would be most of the racing budget for the entire season that he just spent for you.

Re: CCW Wheel Advice

It will deff. hurt the racing budget. Luckily I have ALOT of spares and most will come out of inventory. I think I only have to buy a few hundred worth of parts and some spray paint. I love the rattle can finish :-)

I am starting a new thread with the posts and the story from the weekend.

The brite side....I didnt use up much rubber so I have enough stickers for the next event. By the way....anyone need used rubber? I think I have filled Squerly's entire warehouse. Who is next :-)?
