05 excursion diesel BATTERY LIGHT

The battery light comes on when driving... the batteries we sluggish the other day but had both front and rear heaters full blast for a short trip, so I charged the batteries. It cranks and starts fine but Battery light is still on.... can drive it 5- 10 miles and it still starts after I stop, so not sure if the alternator is just putting out enough,... or if the batteries are getting old after a little over a year???

I would say alternator. Take it to AutoZone or O'reilly's, They'll test it for free. BTW wouldn't be driving it too much if it's the alternator, unless you wanna walk home.

Under/Over charging alternator can cause it as well as a bad cell in a battery.
