Re: 2009 silverado want to install remote car starter

Prostart units are a little overpriced and their range is usually a 1/3 of what they really do. Compustar offers remote starters that can be pre-loaded with the proper software for your truck along with Directed Electronics. I like the Scytek pieces myself. They have interfaces that can simply plug into them but I've had the best like with something like the Galaxy rs2000 with Fortin's CAN-SL2.

Re: 2009 silverado want to install remote car starter

if you can't get what you need from prostart or it is to expensive; consider a factory 2way kit.
All 2009 silverado are factory prepped for remote start kits that can be added later. No wiring involved just rcdlr modules changeout and extended range antenna install and won't bypass your factory antitheft. Some aftermarket kits will allow starting with a matching non transponder cut key blank. Price it out... will be cheaper than a complete aftermarket kit and install price.

Actually you are wrong. I sell the 2 way kit with mile range (oe is 1,500') installed to my local GM dealer for $315 with 2 2-way remotes. Also, at least the interfaces I sell won't allow you to start the truck with a non-transponder key. Fly by night install places like to hide a key up inside the vehicles. Not all do it this way.
