San Francisco SCCA "GTP"

Those of you in the Bay area are aware that last year we got "kicked out" of STO and BP (deleted class) leaving us only the ability to run in GT2 (group 3 locally). We've had some success in working with the SF Region in creating a local run group that would allow us back in Group 1 so we could run in 2 events per weekend. This is only a local (not national SCCA thing).

Looks like a new local group GTP (GT Panoz??) will be created and give us 2 options to run (group 1 and group 3) each weekend. This should double the fun!

The "rules" for GTP are likely going to be the same SCCA Panoz GT2 supps. However I'm making a push to get Mike Smith to allow ALL Panoz cars up to 450hp into the group to give place for the "school" cars to run in. This should boost the car counts and get more plastic cars on the track.

The GTP Rule - GTP - A class for Panoz GTS and GT-RA cars complying with the GT category safety and mechanical requirements for Panoz GTS cars. GT-RA cars may utilize a different engine/transmission package provided such package does not enhance the performance capability of the car beyond that of the GT2 compliant cars.

Anyone in the SF Bay area with a "school car" should be able to run it in our local GTP class as long as it has a DOM roll cage and can pass SCCA tech....cool
