Stocks shocks cant control lowering spring/coilover properly. Do it right & replace shocks & springs as a set.

New struts will probably last 40,000 miles, when lowered.

mine lasted for about a month
 i knew better but oh well....and these wern't new stock shocks either

If the car is lowered with a higher spring rate. The shocks might even last longer.
Higher spring rate equal less work for the shock to do.
