Ive got a nagging problem that needs solving.

I have a 2002 2.4 G model--sold in Thailand

The problem is that it seems quite often that if i park the car-get out dont lock the doors with remote or otherwise-the when i get back and try to start the car-it wont start--just turn the key-all the lights go on etc--but nothing happens--i have to mess around with the door remote control etc.. and eventually it just starts working.

This never has happened when i get out and lock with remote and then unlock with remote.

Also, probably related, is that sometimes when stopping, turning off engine and getting out--the beeper thing beeps and the doors wont lock--

normally when all is ok there are no beeps while getting out of car

anyone have any ideas?--its starting to be quite inconvenient--especailly when the car wont start

Is this an aftermarket alarm/remote or a Toyota factory alarm system? Many of the aftermarket alarms have some type of built-in antitheft feature. I have an older aftermarket DEI remote lock/unlock system on one of my Camrys, that has a built in starter kill. If you lock the car using the remote you have to unlock the car using the remote or the car will not start (crank). There have been times when we don't use the remote and when we go to start it, the car won't crank. We have to click the remote once to get it to start (crank). It seems something in my wife's purse or in my pocket has accidently bumped the lock/unlock button. Just something to check.
